Campervan Awning Rails & Vamoose Awning Rails
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a campervan awning rail do?
An awning rail provides a channel for attaching an awning’s fabric connection to the side of your campervan. It lets you connect a compatible sun canopy or drive-away awning without fitting a complete wind-out awning.
The Vamoose Combi-Rail also acts as a gutter, helping divert rain away from the door opening.
Which vehicles do your Vamoose awning rails fit?
This collection includes vehicle-specific rails for VW Transporter, VW Crafter, MAN TGE, Mercedes Sprinter, Renault Trafic, Nissan Primastar NV300 and Vauxhall Vivaro.
Select the correct vehicle generation, body length and fitting side. Rails are shaped and sized for particular vehicles, so a similar-looking van does not automatically use the same rail.
Which awning rail should I choose for a VW Transporter?
Our Vamoose Transporter listing covers VW T4, T5, T6 and T6.1, with separate short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase options. You can also select passenger-side or driver-side fitting.
Choose the length that matches your van and the side where you want your awning. If your vehicle is an import, confirm the physical fitting side with us rather than relying only on the passenger-side label.
Which awning rail should I choose for a MAN TGE?
Our MAN TGE listing offers MWB, LWB and XLWB options, with passenger-side or driver-side fitting.
Match the rail to your body length and intended awning position. If you are unsure which version you need, send us your vehicle details and a side-on photo before ordering.
What size awning connection fits a Vamoose rail?
Vamoose specifies a standard 6mm connection. Its fitting instructions describe using a 6mm × 6mm kador strip to connect a compatible awning.
Check your awning’s beading or connection kit before buying. If it uses a different bead size, you will need a suitable adapter rather than forcing it into the channel.
Can I attach an inflatable or drive-away awning?
Yes, provided the awning has a compatible connection. Whether the awning uses air beams or poles does not determine rail compatibility; the connecting bead and attachment height do.
Check that the awning’s tunnel height range matches the height of the installed rail. Use the awning manufacturer’s specified pegs, guy lines and tensioning instructions.
How do I disconnect a drive-away awning to use the van?
A compatible drive-away connection kit lets you separate the awning tunnel from the vehicle rail while leaving the awning standing. These kits commonly use a removable kador strip and connecting sections.
Follow your connection kit’s instructions, release the tunnel straps and check that nothing remains attached to the vehicle before driving away. Marking the wheel positions can help you park in the same place when you return.
Can a Vamoose rail support a Fiamma wind-out awning?
Vamoose offers brackets for mounting compatible Fiamma wind-out awnings to its Combi-Rails. Our product listings mention Fiamma F45s and F35 applications.
A wind-out awning needs the correct mounting brackets and an approved installation for your vehicle and awning model. The fabric channel alone is not a complete mounting system. Confirm the bracket combination with us before ordering.
Can I fit an awning rail with a pop-top roof?
The Vamoose Transporter rail is listed as suitable for use with a pop-top roof. Positioning still needs to allow clearance for the roof, its seals and the sliding door.
If your conversion has unusual roof trim, existing brackets or other accessories near the fitting area, send us photos so we can assess the installation before you buy.
Does installation require screws and sealant?
Yes. Vamoose’s Transporter instructions specify mechanical fixings and adhesive sealant. Positioning tape helps hold the rail during installation; it does not replace the specified fixing method.
The Transporter instructions require 24 hours for curing before attaching an awning. Follow the instructions supplied for your exact rail and the sealant manufacturer’s curing requirements.
What is supplied with the awning rail?
Our Transporter and MAN TGE listings include fitting instructions, screws, front and rear end caps, and 3M positioning tape.
Confirm whether adhesive sealant is included with your selected kit before installation. An awning, drive-away connection kit and wind-out awning brackets are separate items unless expressly included in the listing.
