Swamper Alloys

Frequently Asked Questions

What are swamper alloy wheels?

Swamper alloy wheels give campervans and adventure vehicles an off-road appearance and are commonly paired with all-terrain tyres. Our collection includes Rogue designs such as CC1, LC1, LCX, ROBUST and ROLLEX, with 16-inch and 17-inch options.

Choose the correct vehicle fitment and load capacity first, then select the design and finish. Off-road styling alone does not establish a wheel’s suitability for a heavy campervan.

How do I choose wheels that fit my campervan?

We need your vehicle model, year, drivetrain, plated axle weights and current tyre size. Tell us about suspension changes, uprating or a twin-rear-wheel setup as well.

Compatibility depends on bolt pattern, centre bore, wheel width, offset, brake clearance and load rating. Send us your registration number and a photo of the vehicle weight plate so we can check the exact wheel before you order.

What do PCD, centre bore and offset mean?

PCD describes the bolt pattern. For example, 5×120 means five mounting holes arranged on a 120mm pitch circle.

Centre bore is the central opening that locates the wheel on the hub. Offset, often written as ET, describes the mounting face’s position relative to the wheel centreline.

For example, our 17-inch Rogue CC1 5×120 listing specifies a 65.1mm centre bore and ET35 offset. Matching the bolt pattern alone is not enough to confirm fit.

What wheel load rating does my campervan need?

Choose wheels against the vehicle’s plated axle limits, rather than dividing its total weight equally between four wheels.

For example, on an axle with two single wheels and a plated maximum of 2,000kg, each wheel needs a load rating of at least 1,000kg. The tyres must also meet the required load capacity.

This example does not apply directly to twin-wheel axles. Tell us if your campervan is uprated or has twin rear wheels so the complete specification can be checked.

Are tyres included with these alloy wheel sets?

Listings marked “4 × alloys” are four-wheel sets. Do not assume tyres are included unless the selected package explicitly lists them.

We can discuss a bespoke wheel-and-tyre package. Confirm the tyre brand, size, load index, speed rating, balancing and any tyre-pressure-monitoring requirements before ordering.

Should I choose 16-inch or 17-inch swamper wheels?

Start with the sizes approved for your vehicle and the clearance required by its brakes. Both the wheel and tyre combination must suit the van.

At a similar overall tyre diameter, a smaller wheel leaves more tyre sidewall. A larger wheel leaves less. The choice affects appearance and ride characteristics, but wheel diameter alone does not determine ground clearance.

Will I need a suspension lift or wheel-arch modifications?

That depends on the complete wheel-and-tyre size, offset and your suspension setup. A swamper wheel does not automatically require a lift, and a lift does not guarantee an oversized tyre will clear.

Check clearance at full steering lock and through suspension movement, including around brake components, liners and bodywork. Have us confirm the proposed setup before buying tyres or modifying the van.

Can I keep my existing tyres or spare wheel?

Existing tyres can only be reused if their diameter, approved rim-width range, condition and load specification suit the new wheels.

If the new tyres change the overall rolling diameter, check the spare-wheel arrangement too. This is especially important on vehicles with drivetrain requirements for matching tyre sizes. Tell us whether you want a fifth matching wheel when discussing your package.

Do you include wheel fixings and offer fitting?

Our wheel-package listings include a fitting kit with fixings and locking wheel nuts, plus free fitting at our Alcester workshop.

Book an appointment and confirm what is included for your selected package. New wheels may require different fixings from the original wheels, so use the specified hardware and tightening instructions.

How should I clean and maintain swamper alloy wheels?

Clean wheels regularly, particularly after winter road salt or muddy trips. Use a cleaner approved for the wheel’s finish, work on cool wheels and rinse thoroughly.

Avoid abrasive pads and strong chemicals unless the wheel manufacturer permits them. Check for impact damage after hitting potholes or rocks, and follow the fitter’s instructions for checking wheel-fixing torque.

Is UK shipping free on alloy wheels?

Yes. We offer free UK shipping on orders over £100. For orders of £100 or less, the applicable shipping charge is shown at checkout.

Confirm the current dispatch estimate for your chosen fitment and finish before booking an external fitting appointment or planning a trip.
